”quasi-particles” in bosonization theory of interacting fermion liquids at arbitrary dimensions

چکیده
Within bosonization theory we introduce in this paper a new definition of ”quasi-particles” for interacting fermions at arbitrary space dimenions. In dimensions higher than one we show that the constructed quasi-particles are consistent with quasi-particle descriptions in Landau Fermi liquid theory whereas in one-dimension the ”quasi-particles” are non-perturbative objects (spinons and holons) obeying fractional statistics. The more general situation of Fermi liquids with singular Landau interaction is discussed. PACS Numbers: 71.27.+a, 74.25.-q, 11.15.-q Typeset using REVTEX

Multidimensional Bosonization
Bosonization of degenerate fermions yields insight both into Landau Fermi liquids, and into non-Fermi liquids. We begin our review with a pedagogical introduction to bosonization, emphasizing its applicability in spatial dimensions greater than one. After a brief historical overview, we present the essentials of the method. Well known results of Landau theory are recovered, demonstrating that t...
متن کاملBosonization and fermion liquids in dimensions greater than one.
We develop and describe new approaches to the problem of interacting Fermions in spatial dimensions greater than one. These approaches are based on generalizations of powerful tools previously applied to problems in one spatial dimension. We begin with a review of one-dimensional interacting Fermions. We then introduce a simplified model in two spatial dimensions to study the role that spin and...
متن کاملExtended dualization: A method for the bosonization of anomalous fermion systems in arbitrary dimension.
The technique of extended dualization developed in this paper is used to bosonize quantized fermion systems in arbitrary dimension D in the low energy regime. In its original (minimal) form, dualization is restricted to models wherein it is possible to define a dynamical quantized conserved charge. We generalize the usual dualization prescription to include systems with dynamical non–conserved ...
متن کاملA New Approach for Bosonization of Massive Thirring Model in Three Dimensions
We develop a new approach for bosonization based on the direct comparison of current correlation functions and apply it to the case of the Massive Thirring Model in three dimensions in the weak coupling regime, but with an arbitrary mass. Explicit bosonized forms for the lagrangian and the current are obtained in terms of a vector gauge field. Exact results for the corresponding expressions are...
متن کاملA brief introduction to Luttinger liquids
I give a brief introduction to Luttinger liquids. Luttinger liquids are paramagnetic one-dimensional metals without Landau quasi-particle excitations. The elementary excitations are collective charge and spin modes, leading to charge-spin separation. Correlation functions exhibit power-law behavior. All physical properties can be calculated, e.g. by bosonization, and depend on three parameters ...
